David Beckham has been seen in public for the first time since his eldest son, Brooklyn, published a blistering statement detailing a bitter and long-running family feud. The former England captain appeared at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, looking slightly weary as he posed for promotional photos and participated in a podcast interview.
Brooklyn's Explosive Allegations
On Monday night, Brooklyn Beckham, 26, broke a self-imposed silence of "years" with a lengthy post on his Instagram story. He accused his parents, Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham, of attempting to "ruin" his relationship with his billionaire wife, Nicola Peltz, and of prioritising their public brand, "Brand Beckham," above genuine family bonds.
Brooklyn claimed the discord escalated dramatically around his 2022 wedding. He alleged his mother, Victoria, cancelled designing Nicola's wedding dress at the "eleventh hour," forcing a last-minute replacement. He also stated that weeks before the ceremony, his parents "repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe" him into signing away the rights to his name, a move he said would have impacted his wife and future children.
Wedding Drama and Public Humiliation
The social media content creator and aspiring chef levelled some of his most serious accusations at the events of his wedding day. He claimed that in front of 500 guests, Victoria Beckham "hijacked" his planned first dance with Nicola.
"Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me," Brooklyn wrote. "She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life."
He further alleged that family members told him the night before the wedding that Nicola was "not blood and not family," and that his mother called him "evil" for seating their grandmothers at their table.
A Strained Reconciliation and Final Break
Brooklyn revealed that attempts at reconciliation had failed. He travelled from Los Angeles to London for his father's 50th birthday last year but claimed his family rejected all his proposals for a private meeting, insisting he only attend the large, public party. When David eventually agreed to meet, it was allegedly on the condition that Nicola was not present.
"It was a slap in the face," Brooklyn said. Later, when the Beckhams were in Los Angeles, he claims they "refused to see me at all." He also stated that during the tragic LA wildfires, his mother refused a request from Nicola to help save displaced dogs.
Brooklyn insisted he does not want to reconcile, stating, "I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life." He accused his parents of controlling the family narrative through "performative social media posts" and placing "countless lies in the media." He said that since stepping away, his lifelong anxiety has disappeared.
"My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation," he concluded. "All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family."
