In a poignant last-ditch appeal for peace, Cruz Beckham has reached out to his estranged elder brother Brooklyn once more, signalling a heartfelt desire to mend the painful rift tearing the famous family apart before Christmas.
Nostalgic Social Media Posts Signal a Longing for Peace
Cruz, 20, took to Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a series of nostalgic throwback photos that seemed directly aimed at his big brother. One sweet snap showed a younger Brooklyn with his arm around Cruz, alongside their brother Romeo, posing on a beach in Brazil. Cruz also posted a childhood selfie in front of Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, alongside a more recent image.
This is not the first such gesture from the youngest Beckham son. Over the weekend, he shared a touching home video clip of the pair as children. Prior to that, he posted a family photo from a 2021 holiday featuring himself, Brooklyn, Romeo, and their father David, captioned with a simple but powerful: 'Love you guys'. That post was widely seen as the first time Cruz had publicly acknowledged the deep family feud.
A Family Divided for the Festive Season
The public appeals come as the Beckhams prepare to spend Christmas separated. It is believed Brooklyn, 25, will remain in the Miami mansion he shares with his actress wife Nicola Peltz and her parents. Meanwhile, the rest of the clan—David, Victoria, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper—are expected to gather at the family's Cotswolds home.
The schism is thought to have originated around the time of Brooklyn and Nicola's lavish 2022 wedding, notably involving Nicola's choice of a Valentino gown over a design from her mother-in-law Victoria's fashion label. The divide has only widened this year, with Brooklyn and Nicola conspicuously absent from major family milestones.
These included Sir David's landmark 50th birthday celebration and his recent investiture, as well as Victoria's launch event for her Netflix documentary series in October.
Olive Branches from Across the Atlantic
Cruz is not the only family member extending an olive branch as the holidays approach. Football legend David Beckham also appeared to send a subtle message to his eldest son on Instagram. On Wednesday evening, he posted a collage celebrating his historic MLS Cup win as both a player and an owner. Alongside a recent family celebration photo, he included a throwback snap from 2011 or 2012 showing a younger David with Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz after winning the cup with LA Galaxy.
He captioned the emotional post, 'License to cry.' Furthermore, at the end of November, Brooklyn's grandmother, Jackie, sparked speculation of a possible Christmas reunion. She shared a festive picture showing a personalised red stocking for Brooklyn hanging on her fireplace, a photo which Victoria then re-shared. His stocking was hung alongside those for his siblings and cousins.
As Christmas Day draws nearer, the question remains whether these heartfelt, public gestures will be enough to bridge the gap and bring the whole Beckham family back together under one roof for the festivities.
