Reality television personality Charlotte Crosby has revealed her family holiday to the Maldives ended in a hospital visit, after she shared a sun-soaked bikini picture taken just before she fell ill.
Paradise Interrupted: From Sun Lounger to Hospital Bed
The 35-year-old former Geordie Shore star had jetted off to the luxurious island destination with her fiancé, Jake Ankers, and their two young children: three-year-old Alba and 11-month-old Pixi. The trip was intended as an idyllic family escape, but took a dramatic turn for the worse on the final day.
Crosby took to her Instagram on Wednesday to post a stunning photograph of herself lounging on a sunbed on her hotel balcony, wearing a black string bikini. She captioned the throwback snap, "Throwback to a couple of days ago when I was feeling all full health and MILFY", lamenting the sudden change in her fortunes.
A Sudden Illness and a Dolphin Trip Gone Wrong
Just a day before posting the bikini picture, the mother-of-two had informed her followers that she had become unwell. On their last day in the Maldives, she reported feeling "so weak" and had been "throwing up". Determined to make memories for her daughter, she pushed through to go on a planned dolphin-watching excursion, but the family sadly didn't see any of the animals.
Her condition deteriorated rapidly after that. Crosby later shared a more alarming image from a hospital bed, where she was wearing an oxygen mask. She captioned it simply: "Well this wasn't on my bingo card." The specifics of her illness have not been publicly disclosed.
Mum-Shaming Backlash Over Pre-Holiday Prank
The ill-fated holiday followed a light-hearted controversy that saw Crosby forced to hit back at online critics. Before the family's health troubles began, she had pranked her followers with a humorous edited photo from their flight.
After a delay, she snapped a picture of Jake holding baby Pixi up next to a fire exit sign. Crosby then photoshopped her fiancé out of the image, making it look as though the infant was hanging from the sign by herself. She jokingly captioned it, suggesting they couldn't find Pixi on the plane.
The joke, however, was lost on some. Crosby was inundated with critical messages from what she termed the "mum police", who believed the scenario was real and accused her of poor parenting. She later had to clarify the situation, posting a selfie and explaining the image was a bored edit made during the runway delay, writing "You didn't actually think that was real did you?"
Despite the chaotic end to their tropical getaway, Crosby's social media posts show she is trying to focus on the positive memories made with her family before her unexpected hospitalisation.
