Carol Wright, the mother of former TOWIE star Mark Wright, has given a heartwarming glimpse into her life as a grandmother, detailing the reality of babysitting his daughter with actress Michelle Keegan.
A Delightful Shopping Companion
Speaking on the family podcast Wright At Home with her daughters Natalya, 25, and Jess, 40, Carol, 65, revealed that her nine-month-old granddaughter, Palma, is an absolute joy to look after. Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan, both 38, welcomed their first child in March 2025, after marrying in 2015.
Carol recounted a recent outing, telling her daughters: 'I took Palma shopping the other day and she is just so good, she just loves to be noisy, busy, shopping.' Her sentiment was strongly echoed by Jess, who exclaimed: 'It is not normal how amazing that child is, it is not normal.'
Family Support and Parenting Reassurance
The conversation took a more emotional turn as Jess opened up about the 'ups and downs' she experiences with her own two-year-old son, Presley, whom she shares with husband William Lee Kemp. Jess admitted to questioning her own parenting choices, a feeling many parents will recognise.
Both Carol and Natalya were quick to offer reassurance, emphasising that such challenges are completely normal and that every child goes through difficult phases. This moment of shared vulnerability highlighted the supportive dynamic within the Wright family.
Carol's Approach to Being a Mother-in-Law
In a separate but revealing segment of the podcast, Carol also provided an insight into her relationship with her daughter-in-law, Michelle Keegan. The discussion was prompted by a listener's letter about mother-in-law tensions.
Carol explained her conscious approach: 'It's a hard one because everyone's sons are like, you know, they're your sons and… a woman comes along, and they do take your son. But I'm a bit different because I actually hold back because of that reason.'
She added that she is mindful of not being 'overpowering' to make Michelle feel more comfortable as a new member of the family. This thoughtful stance offers a glimpse into the private dynamics of the couple's marriage.
Meanwhile, Michelle has been embracing motherhood, recently sharing a clip from a family holiday where she joked about her 'new normal' – seeking shade, finding a quiet spot, and getting a cramp in her foot from rocking Palma's pram.
