Carol Vorderman Plans Facelift, Defends Surgery Choices

Television presenter Carol Vorderman has openly declared her intention to undergo a facelift procedure within the next few years. The 65-year-old star, known for her ageless appearance, has consistently faced criticism for her use of cosmetic tweakments but remains defiant about her personal choices.

Defending Cosmetic Procedures

In a recent interview with Richard Eden of the Daily Mail, Vorderman addressed the scrutiny head-on. "I don't look as good as I did in my 40s, but I don't think I look bad for my age," she stated. "I have Botox and all of those things, and I'm probably going to have a facelift in the next couple of years."

She emphasised her financial independence and right to spend her earnings as she wishes. "It's my money, I've earned it, so I'll spend it on what I like. I am accepting of myself, but I also want to look good, and those two things can go together," Vorderman explained.

A 'No F***s Given' Approach to Ageing

This is not the first time Vorderman has spoken out about societal pressures and personal autonomy regarding appearance. In a 2024 interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, she adopted a bold stance. "Everyone on telly has Botox. I look the way I do because it makes me happy," she said.

She elaborated on her philosophy, quoting David Bowie: "You become the person you always should have been." Vorderman added, "My sixties is the age I always should have been. The abuse I get is off the scale but I don't give a monkey's. Actually it spurs me on."

Interestingly, she clarified that despite speculation, she has never had breast augmentation surgery. She attributed changes in her figure to menopause, noting she went up three cup sizes naturally during that time.

Personal Life and Relationships

Alongside discussions of cosmetic surgery, Vorderman has been candid about her unconventional approach to romance. She famously refers to her male companions as "special friends" and maintains multiple casual relationships simultaneously.

Recently, she humorously noted a reduction in her circle. Speaking on Alan Carr's Life's A Beach podcast, she quipped, "It's down to three. Times are hard." However, she stressed these are not fleeting flings. "They're three like quite long term," Vorderman said, distinguishing her arrangements from holiday romances or one-night stands.

No Desire to Settle Down

Vorderman, who has been single since splitting from journalist Des Kelly in 2007 after two marriages, expressed no interest in traditional commitment. In a January interview with The Mirror, she stated, "I have no desire to settle down right now. Maybe when I'm 82 - with a 45-year-old!"

She challenged societal expectations placed on women. "There's this idea that women need a man to travel, to live, to enjoy themselves - you really, really don't," Vorderman asserted. "That's not anti-men - it's pro-women, there's a whole world out there and women are reaching for it."

Last year, she disclosed having five special friends, reiterating that she does not engage in one-night stands but prefers these defined, ongoing connections. Her openness continues to spark conversation about autonomy, ageing, and personal fulfilment in the public eye.
