Pop icon Britney Spears has returned to social media with a trio of provocative dance videos, just days after launching a thinly-veiled attack on her estranged family over the Christmas holidays.
Instagram Dance Moves and Mishaps
The 44-year-old singer posted three clips to her Instagram account on Saturday, showcasing her dance skills. In one particularly revealing video, she twirled in a bathroom while lip-syncing to Christina Aguilera's song I Am, wearing a sheer dress that put her thong underwear on full display.
While adjusting her top during the energetic routine, Spears accidentally suffered a nip slip, which she later covered with a flower emoji. She captioned the video in French, writing: 'J'ai retrouvé quelque chose dans mes affaires… enfin, vous savez… je n'avais jamais publié ça ! Bon, tant pis, j'ai décidé d'y réfléchir. Mon Dieu, j'avais complètement oublié… Zut!'
This translates to: 'I found something in my things… well, you know… I never posted it! Oh well, never mind, I decided to think about it. My God, I'd completely forgotten… Damn!'
A Biting Christmas Message to Family
The new posts follow a sarcastic holiday message Spears directed at her family. Days after Christmas, the ...Baby One More Time hitmaker shared an image of a decorated tree alongside a caustic note.
'Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix,' she wrote.
She added, 'To my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon … I can’t wait.' The mother-of-two also gave a shoutout to her seven-year-old niece, Ivey, before signing off with 'Godspeed, friends.'
Family Reaction and Underlying Tensions
According to sources speaking to The Daily Mail, Spears' family was hurt by the post. They believe her anger stemmed from her older son, 20-year-old Sean, choosing to spend Christmas in Louisiana with his aunt's family and grandmother, rather than returning to California to be with his mother and brother, 19-year-old Jayden.
One family member described the message as a 'sucker punch to the gut', especially during the holidays. They expressed confusion, stating they thought relations were improving and that the public blast came as a surprise.
Another relative emphasised that Spears has everyone's contact details and could have chosen a private conversation over a public post. The singer's relationship with her family has been strained for years, particularly following the end of her 13-year conservatorship in November 2021.
Despite the family tensions, a source told People magazine that Britney 'had a fun time celebrating Christmas with Jayden' and that it had been a special holiday for them.
