RHOA Star Brit Eady Files for Divorce, Waives Spousal Support
Brit Eady files for divorce from Michael Cunningham

Brit Eady, known for her role on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, has formally initiated divorce proceedings against her husband of five years, Michael Cunningham. The 37-year-old reality TV personality filed legal documents in a Georgia court on Wednesday, acting on her previously stated intention to end the marriage.

The Legal Details of the Split

According to the court filing, Eady cited an irretrievable breakdown of the union, with a separation date listed as 1st December. She has explicitly requested that the court not award any form of alimony or spousal support to Cunningham. The estranged couple, who wed in 2020, did not have any children together.

Documents reviewed by outlets including TMZ indicate that the pair's sole major shared asset is their house in Fulton County, Georgia. Eady claimed in the filing that they have reached an agreement to sell the property and divide the proceeds. Regarding personal vehicles, she stated she would keep hers, while Cunningham would retain his.

Eady's Emotional Social Media Revelation

The legal action follows an emotional social media post from Eady on New Year's Eve, which she later deleted. In the post, she declared her intent to move forward with her life, writing, 'I’m posting this on the last day of 365 to remove this facade of faking like this marriage is going to work.'

She added, 'Everybody can’t come into the next chapter. I’m done hurting and I want to be happy in my next chapter. Cheers to 2026 of putting my happiness first.' Eady was keen to control the narrative, insisting the split was not due to 'any fake made up rumours' despite the apparent discord.

A Statement on Respect and Personal Growth

In an extended statement, Eady elaborated on her reasons for the divorce, citing a fundamental issue of respect. 'The second I feel disrespected, everything in me shifts,' she explained. 'My peace goes out the window, my patience disappears, and that soft version of me turns sharp real quick.'

She framed the end of her five-year marriage as a painful but necessary step for personal development. 'I'm learning,' Eady reflected. 'Learning not to let people pull me out of character... Learning that peace is better than proving a point.' She advised her followers to know their triggers and guard their peace, signalling a new focus on self-preservation and happiness following the high-profile split.
