Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite has disclosed that his earnings from the adult content platform OnlyFans now surpass what he was paid for his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing. The baker, who made history in 2021 as part of the show's first same-sex couple, said he earned more in a single month from OnlyFans than his entire Strictly fee.
Whaite, 35, announced he was stepping back from television, having lost his regular slot on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch after it was axed. He said: 'I was going to leave TV this year anyway. I think my career in television is now done. I've had a great run and loved it.'
Explaining his return to OnlyFans, Whaite said: 'I enjoy performance. I enjoy being a show-off. I enjoy building my body and celebrating the results.' He added that his decision was not for everyone, but urged critics to 'walk on by the butcher's shop' if they disapproved.
However, the lucrative move has come at a cost. Whaite claimed he lost a partnership with car manufacturer Peugeot after they discovered his OnlyFans activity. In a social media post, he wrote: 'When @peugeotuk found out about my OnlyFans, they asked me to no longer post about their brand and to give the car back.' He also alleged that collaborations with supermarket chain Waitrose had been 'expunged' due to his adult content work.
Strictly Come Dancing contestants are reportedly paid a standard £25,000, rising to £100,000 for the winner. Whaite's OnlyFans earnings have now exceeded that top figure, he confirmed when asked by a fan.
