Ashley Roberts has voiced her support for Adam Thomas in his ongoing jungle dispute with Jimmy Bullard, following her own elimination from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! The Pussycat Dolls singer and radio DJ was sent home after struggling in a challenge, but reflected positively on her experience and camp friendships.
Jungle Exit After Challenge Failure
The 44-year-old entertainer was the slowest campmate to complete the "Keys to Success" challenge, which involved unlocking a way to safety. This disappointing performance led to her departure from the South African camp, just shy of the final four contestants. After hugging her fellow celebrities goodbye, she walked out to meet hosts Ant and Dec for her exit interview.
Taking Sides in Camp Conflict
When questioned about the visible tension between Jimmy Bullard and Adam Thomas, Roberts didn't hesitate to show where her loyalties lay. "I don't know what was going on in his head," she said of Bullard. "But it didn't feel fair on Adam. Just get in there and get a bit filthy."
Her comments highlight the ongoing drama that has captivated viewers of the reality series, adding fuel to the fire of this particular celebrity feud.
Reflections on a Second Jungle Experience
In a more extensive exit interview conducted back at the hotel, Roberts expressed mixed emotions about her departure. "As much as I'm bummed to be going out, making it so close to the final four, I feel like I've done myself proud," she revealed.
The singer elaborated on her personal achievements during the competition: "I got my hands dirty, faced some fears, met some amazing new people, walking away with memories for life."
Fourteen Years Between Appearances
This marked Roberts' second appearance on I'm A Celebrity, having previously competed in 2012. She reflected on how different her approach was this time around: "It's been fourteen years. I've been through a lot of different life experiences since, some good, some bad. So, walking in with a different head on my shoulders, really wanting to prove to myself that I could do it."
She particularly enjoyed the camp environment, mentioning: "The camp was cool. I loved that waterfall. That was so magical."
Deeper Connections and Camp Dynamics
Roberts praised the bonding that occurred among campmates, revealing they discussed everything from lighthearted topics to deeply personal experiences. "Honey, there was a wide spectrum of convos," she explained. "We went from light-hearted, silly, goofy stuff to, you know, really deep-rooted, human experience stuff that we all have gone through."
She continued: "Sometimes it's scary to be vulnerable but you realise that when you share, we're all going through something. Everyone has a story and nobody gets out unscathed."
What Made This Experience Better
When asked what improved during her second jungle stint compared to her first, Roberts identified two key factors: "I think proving to myself [I could do it]. To reignite that empowered feeling within me is exciting. Also friendship. I made some friendships in the last one, but these feel even more deep rooted. I feel like I'm really going to be hanging out with everybody on the other side."
Praise for Fellow Campmates
Roberts had kind words for several of her fellow celebrities. She appreciated Mo's cooking for enhancing their camp experience and described David Haye as having "a good heart."
However, she reserved her most effusive praise for Scarlett Moffatt, with whom she formed a particularly close bond. "Me and Scar became little bush sisters," Roberts gushed. "We'd give a little look and knew what each other were thinking. We just had each other's back throughout it all."
She emphasized the challenges of the Legends series: "This Legends series was not a joke. It was really, really tough, so it was good to have really amazing, beautiful humans to lean on."
Despite her early exit, Roberts leaves the jungle with strengthened friendships, personal satisfaction from facing her fears, and clear opinions about the ongoing dynamics between her former campmates.
