Jennifer Aniston Extends Support to Ex-Husband Justin Theroux Following Birth of His First Child
Jennifer Aniston has publicly shown her support for her second ex-husband, Justin Theroux, after he welcomed his first child with his younger second wife, Nicole Brydon Bloom. The couple announced the arrival of their son on Saturday through a joint Instagram post, which was captioned with the heartfelt message: 'He's here, we are so in love.'
Aniston's Gesture Amid Personal Fertility Struggles
The 57-year-old Friends alum 'liked' the Instagram post, joining other celebrities such as Amy Sedaris and Molly Ringwald in celebrating the news. This gesture comes as children remain a sensitive topic for Aniston, who has openly discussed her own 20-year battle to conceive, which ended 'several years ago' after she underwent IVF treatments.
On the October 20th episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Aniston shared her emotional journey, stating: 'There's a point where it's like out of my control. There's literally nothing I can do about it.' She further explained her perspective on adoption, saying: 'When people say, "But you can adopt," I don't want to adopt. I want my own DNA in a little person. That's the only way, selfish or not, whatever that is, I've wanted it.'
Aniston, who has made peace with her infertility, added: 'It just wasn't in the plan, whatever the plan was...it's very emotional, especially in the moment when [doctors] say "That's it," because there is a weird moment when that happens.'
Theroux and Aniston's Past Relationship
Aniston and Theroux ended their two-year marriage in 2017, a union that, according to reports from TMZ, might never have been legally recognized. At the time they met in 2007, Theroux was still living with his longtime girlfriend, costume designer Heidi Bivens, with whom he had been in a relationship for 14 years. The pair later co-starred in the 2011 film Wanderlust.
Current Relationships and Family Dynamics
Since last summer, Aniston has been dating hypnotist Jim Curtis, who divorced his ex-wife Rachel Napolitano shortly after she gave birth to their teenage son, Aidan. Meanwhile, Theroux, who is 22 years older than Bloom, was first seen with her at a Netflix event in 2023. The couple, married for 13 months, hosted an intimate baby shower in February at the NoHo cocktail bar, Jac's on Bond.
In January, Bloom shared with People magazine: 'It's going really well. I feel good. I was sick in the first trimester, so that was a bummer, but the second trimester has been going really well. I feel very lucky and grateful for that.' She also mentioned relying on advice from her twin sister, Christine, who has a young niece, and balancing her pregnancy with work on the second season of Paradise.
Upcoming Projects for Theroux and Bloom
Bloom is set to reprise her role as wealthy heiress Maud Beaton in the fourth season of HBO's historical drama The Gilded Age, which was renewed last July. Theroux, on the other hand, has several projects lined up:
- Reprising his role as Kate Hudson's onscreen brother Cam Gordon in the 10-episode second season of the basketball comedy Running Point, premiering this Thursday on Netflix.
- Portraying Emily Blunt's onscreen husband in David Frankel's sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2, scheduled for release in US and UK theaters on May 1, alongside stars like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
- Returning as RobCo Industries CEO Robert Edwin House in the third season of Amazon Prime Video's post-apocalyptic drama Fallout, renewed last May.
Additionally, Theroux is involved in other upcoming films, including Victoria Strouse's sibling cult comedy Seekers of Infinite Love, Amma Asante's Cold War thriller Billion Dollar Spy, and the Apple TV+ Siegfried & Roy biopic Wild Things.
