Former Gogglebox star Amy Tapper has bravely detailed the horrific torrent of online abuse she faced after undergoing a dramatic eight stone weight loss.
From Gogglebox to Good Morning Britain
The 26-year-old reality TV personality, who first found fame on the Channel 4 show at the age of 13 with her family, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, November 20. During the candid interview, she spoke with hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway about the dark side of her transformation.
The Harsh Reality of Online Trolling
Amy revealed that despite her incredible achievement, she was met with a wave of vile messages from internet trolls. She was open about using weight loss jabs to aid her in losing eight stone, a fact that seemingly fuelled much of the negativity.
In a moment of striking honesty, she told the GMB hosts, "I do think of myself as strong minded and whatever they say to me I can say a lot worse about myself." However, she was quick to acknowledge the very real emotional impact, adding, "But of course it affects you. No one is super human and I can be strong and confident but when I’ve put all this work in, I do just kind of have to laugh about it."
Strength in the Face of Adversity
Her appearance served as a powerful reminder of the human cost of online trolling. While demonstrating immense personal strength, Amy's story highlights that no one is immune to the hurtful comments that can proliferate on social media, even following a positive personal journey like significant weight loss.
The Tapper family were part of the beloved Gogglebox cast from its early days until their departure in 2018.
