Amanda Bynes Shares Ozempic Weight Loss Journey: 'Down 28lbs and Feeling Inspired'
Amanda Bynes reveals 28lb weight loss on Ozempic

Former child star Amanda Bynes has shared an inspiring update on her health and fitness journey, revealing significant weight loss while using the medication Ozempic. The 39-year-old actress posted a recent photo to her Instagram Stories, expressing pride in her progress.

An Honest Update on Social Media

On Monday, Bynes reposted a picture of herself stepping out in Los Angeles earlier in the week. Over the image, she wrote candidly to her followers: she once weighed 180lbs but has since 'lost 28lbs on ozempic!' She further updated fans, stating, 'I'm down to 152lbs,' while adding, 'I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!'

During the daytime outing, the former Nickelodeon star sported a white shirt and a pair of ripped jeans. The 'She's The Man' actress has been transparent about her weight loss efforts, which began last year.

The Ozempic Journey: From Plans to Progress

Bynes first shared her plans to start Ozempic in a candid Instagram video back in June. 'Oh, I'm going on Ozempic. So excited. I'm 173 now so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures,' she said at the time. She promised to document her journey.

By November, she offered a significant update. In a clip uploaded to her Instagram Stories, Bynes expressed, 'I've lost 20 pounds so far. I'm so excited about that, to be honest. Also, I want to lose about 50 more pounds.' She detailed that her weight had initially increased on the Ozempic pill, shooting up to 180lbs from 173lbs, before she began losing weight on the injection, bringing her down to 163lbs at that point.

She confirmed the medication was 'working' for her and that she was 'trying to lose more weight just to feel skinny and cute.' Bynes committed to continuing the treatment and keeping her followers informed.

A History of Health Struggles and Recovery

Bynes's relationship with her body image and weight has been complex and publicly documented. In March of last year, she revealed she had 'gained over 20 lbs. in the past few months from being depressed.' She stated she was doing better and had learned to use 'opposite action' when she didn't feel like working out or eating clean, aiming to get back to 110lbs.

Her body insecurities, which she has linked to her role in the 2006 film 'She's The Man,' have had a profound impact. In a 2018 interview with Paper Magazine, she explained that seeing herself with a short hairstyle and sideburns in the movie led to a 'deep depression for 4-6 months' and was a 'super strange and out-of-body experience.'

These insecurities later contributed to drug addiction, with Bynes telling the outlet she started taking Adderall to lose weight. Her struggles led to multiple arrests and a period of involuntary psychiatric hold in 2013. She was under a nine-year conservatorship that ended in 2022 and checked herself into a mental health facility in 2023.

Recently, in late November, Bynes also broke her silence to shut down a false and viral rumour concerning Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider, calling the claims 'lies for click bait.'

Through her ongoing social media updates, Amanda Bynes continues to navigate her health journey publicly, offering a window into her personal progress and challenges with weight loss and mental wellbeing.
