Alex Scott Updates on Jess Glynne's Mother's Critical Health After Stroke
Alex Scott Reveals Jess Glynne's Mum's Emergency Brain Surgery

Former footballer and broadcaster Alex Scott has shared a concerning health update regarding the mother of her girlfriend, singer Jess Glynne, following an emergency medical crisis. The revelation came during an emotional appearance on ITV's Lorraine on Friday.

Health Crisis Forces Early Jungle Exit

Alex Scott, 41, who was the first celebrity voted out of the current series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, explained her sudden departure from Australia. Fans had been puzzled earlier in the week when Jess Glynne, 36, was notably absent to greet Scott at the iconic bridge after her jungle exit. The reason, as Scott disclosed to stand-in host Ranvir Singh, 48, was a family emergency.

"When I came out and saw that Jess wasn't at the end of the bridge, her mum has suffered with a really bad stroke and had to have brain surgery," Scott stated. "So I had to rush home and be with my Jessica, as I spoke about her on the show." She confirmed that Jess's mother is currently in critical care, with the couple visiting the hospital daily.

A Supportive Partner and Unaired Jungle Moments

Scott, who has been dating the Hold My Hand singer since 2023, emphasised her role as a supportive partner during this difficult time. "She's my Jessica, and I'm going home to be her rock," she said, adding that she had to miss the show's wrap party to return to the UK immediately. The couple were reunited on Wednesday, sharing a moment over coffee, with Scott posting on social media: "Home is where the heart is."

During the wider Lorraine interview, Scott also reflected on her jungle experience, expressing a wish that more of her fun moments had been broadcast. "I was called the games master in there... I wish more of the fun stuff was shown so viewers would have seen that side of me!" she remarked, acknowledging the constraints of a one-hour edited show. She also discussed significant conversations about racism in the workplace that did air, affirming her desire to show "the real me."

Moving Forward as a Family

The presenter revealed that it was Jess who encouraged her to participate in I'm A Celebrity, wanting her to "do it for my mum." Scott thanked her campmates and ITV for their support during the challenging period. As the couple now focus their energy on family and recovery, Scott's priority remains clear: being present for her partner and her mother during this critical health battle.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
