Hollywood stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner presented a united front for a family outing this weekend, attending a Broadway performance together with their teenage son. The former couple, who divorced in 2018, were spotted arriving at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre on Sunday to see the acclaimed play Stereophonic.
A Family Outing for the Arts
The two-time Oscar winner, 53, and the four-time Emmy nominee, also 53, arrived in a Range Rover with their middle child, Fin, who is due to turn 17 on 6 January. Fin sported a distinctive blue shark-themed hoodie for the occasion and was accompanied by a casually dressed friend. The trip to the theatre followed a reported shopping excursion Affleck had with his second ex-wife, the pop star Jennifer Lopez, 56, earlier in the day.
The play they attended, David Adjmi's Stereophonic, is a song-filled drama set in 1976 that follows a fictional rock band recording in a studio. The production was a major success on Broadway, winning five Tony Awards last year. Its run at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre continues through 2 January.
Amicable Co-Parenting Through the Holidays
The sighting underscores the pair's continued commitment to co-parenting their three children amicably. Affleck and Garner were married for a decade and share two other children: 20-year-old daughter Violet, who is enrolled at Yale University, and 13-year-old son Samuel.
In an interview with Access Hollywood in October, Affleck expressed profound pride in his family. "I could not be more proud of my children. I can't even tell you," he said, specifically praising Violet. "[Violet] takes after her mom. She's spectacular... And I'm very lucky that I've got a great partner and that we got great kids. It's the joy of my life."
Current Projects and Festive Preparations
Both stars remain busy with their professional endeavours. Recently, Affleck was reported by Page Six to be directing and starring in a new, Boston-set Super Bowl commercial for Dunkin'. He is also preparing for the Netflix premiere of the crime drama The Rip on 16 January, where he stars alongside his lifelong friend Matt Damon.
On the home front, Garner, who boasts over 32.2 million social media followers, recently shared rare glimpses into her festive season. On 7 December, she posted photos from inside her $7.8 million Brentwood Park home, including one of her dogs by a decorated Christmas tree with the caption, "Ok December, we're ready for you." Another snap showed her watching the classic film Home Alone with one of her children, captioned, "It doesn't get better than this."
Garner's upcoming projects include the second season of The Last Thing He Told Me, premiering on 20 February on Apple TV+, and a leading role in the Netflix cryptocurrency comedy One Attempt Remaining.
Meanwhile, Affleck has recently completed work on his sixth feature film as a director, Animals, a hostage thriller for Netflix starring Gillian Anderson and Kerry Washington.
