Adam Thomas Breaks Down Over I'm A Celeb Trauma on Podcast

Adam Thomas was consoled by his brothers, Ryan and Scott Thomas, after breaking down in tears during their podcast as he discussed the profound trauma he endured while filming I'm A Celeb All Stars. The emotional episode of At Home With The Thomas Bros was released online shortly after Adam's heated argument with Jimmy Bullard aired on ITV, following criticism directed at David Haye for his treatment of the Waterloo Road actor.

Traumatic Experiences on I'm A Celeb

On the pre-recorded I'm A Celeb All Stars, which filmed several months ago, Adam found himself at the centre of two major conflicts. Initially, he faced harsh insults from former boxer David Haye after opting out of a Bushtucker trial due to feeling unwell. Haye, aware of Adam's psoriatic arthritis condition, labelled him as "useless" and expressed indifference to his health struggles, sparking outrage among viewers and leading to over 170 Ofcom complaints.

Further Conflict with Jimmy Bullard

Later in the series, Adam was involved in a tense row with footballer Jimmy Bullard when Bullard abruptly quit a trial, leaving Adam vulnerable to elimination. In the ensuing confrontation, Adam yelled at Bullard for lack of effort, while Bullard retorted by calling the actor "pathetic," adding to the stressful environment.

Emotional Podcast Revelation

During the podcast, Adam confessed to feeling "anxious" about the show's broadcast due to the "hard time" he experienced. He explained, "As the series goes on, you'll see me having a hard time with some campmates and a part of me coming out that I've not seen before. I wasn't dreading it but I was anxious about it." He further revealed that the experience left him a changed person, necessitating therapy upon his return. Adam stated, "I know for a fact that I'm not the same person that went into the jungle. I'm in therapy, it f**ked with me mentally. I thought, 'How is this happening' I'm a 37 year old man."

Struggles and Loneliness

Attempting to articulate why he struggled so intensely, Adam added, "I was putting other people's feelings before mine. So I just took it until eventually, it got to a point where I was literally at breaking point." He described his time on the show as "so lonely," before becoming too emotional to continue speaking, prompting his brothers to offer comfort.

Brothers' Support and Insights

Ryan Thomas reassured his brother, advising him not to dwell on the painful memories. "You're revisiting it again, don't go there man," he said. "You've done the work." Adam reflected that the ordeal made him feel like he was back in school, saying, "That's the thing that gets me, if it were anyone else, I would have stuck up for them, but when it was me, I couldn't do it. It was like I was a kid again."

Scott Thomas' Perspective

His twin brother, Love Island star Scott Thomas, noted the difficulty of the situation, emphasising that such environments can be damaging. "It's hard sometimes, you're not in control of a situation on a TV show. If you're in the wrong environment and with the wrong people it can break you, but it didn't break you. There was a point where it did get you, but you're such a loving a person, and some people don't necessarily deserve it." He affectionately concluded, "You didn't do anything wrong and I'm so proud of you."
