The Weather Photographer of the Year competition has officially opened, featuring spectacular images captured by photographers worldwide. The Royal Meteorological Society has unveiled a selection of winning entries from last year, including a circular rainbow, a Texas storm, and a UFO-like cloud formation.

Competition Details

Now in its second decade, the contest invites photographers of all skill levels to submit striking images that capture the power, beauty, and impact of weather. Organizers emphasize that the competition celebrates outstanding photography showcasing dramatic weather events and the growing influence of climate change.

Previous Winners

Last year's winners include images of clouds resembling waves over the Czech Republic, fishermen in the rain in Myanmar, and dramatic sea conditions at Newhaven on the UK's south coast. The overall winner was Geshuang Chen's 'Gorgeous Ring,' a circular rainbow photo.

How to Enter

The competition is free to enter and open to photographers of all levels, from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic amateurs. Winners will be announced in November.
