The Independent Launches Influence List Exhibition at Outernet for International Women's Day

The Independent has unveiled a special exhibition at Outernet London to mark International Women's Day, showcasing its 2026 Influence List. This annual compilation highlights the UK's 50 most influential women across art, politics, sport, business, and social change, with a focus on the theme "give to gain." The exhibition features powerful portraits and video interviews, running from 8 to 31 March, and is free to the public.

Celebrating Pioneering Women Across the UK

Portraits of nine extraordinary women from the list have been captured by visionary photographer Sane Seven, displayed on screens at Outernet, the UK's most visited cultural attraction. The list includes notable figures such as Chloe Kelly, Claudia Winkleman, the Princess of Wales, Shabana Mahmood, and Lily Allen. Chloe Kelly, the Arsenal and England forward, tops the list for her athletic achievements and inspirational impact on football and young people.

Each woman featured has shared her experiences and thoughts on the female experience in video interviews, screened alongside the portraits. The exhibition aims to amplify women's voices and achievements, reaching thousands of daily visitors in central London.

Partnership with Refuge Charity

The exhibition is held in partnership with Refuge, the UK's largest domestic abuse charity. Attendees are encouraged to learn about Refuge's vital work and support its services by texting IWD to 70470 to donate £10. This collaboration highlights the importance of addressing domestic abuse, with one in four women facing it in their lifetime.

Insights from Key Figures

Chloe Hubbard, UK Editor of The Independent, commented: "Now in its fourth year, our influence list has become a beloved annual staple. The women included were hotly debated by our panel, but Chloe Kelly was a clear number one—a remarkable character who captured the nation's heart. We're proud to partner with Sane Seven again, whose talent makes these portraits truly unique."

Jessica Dracup-Holland, Chief Marketing Officer at Outernet, added: "We're incredibly proud to host this collaboration for a third year. It transforms our screens into a space where women's stories can inspire progress, creating meaningful connections with audiences."

Laura Burnell, Head of Communications and Marketing at Refuge, remarked: "This platform helps shine a light on women driving change at a crucial time. Our partnership with The Independent keeps domestic abuse visible and supports our life-saving work."

Sane Seven, the photographer, said: "I aimed for the portraits to feel measured and real, reflecting both the women's achievements and the ongoing global struggle for equality."

The exhibition is located near Tottenham Court Road station and offers a free, immersive experience celebrating women's resilience and influence in 2026.
