Christopher Evans, 49, faced a Teaching Regulation Agency panel after admitting to sending excessive messages to a student at St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy in Peterborough. The experienced teacher acknowledged sending between 1,000 and 1,500 messages to the pupil via WhatsApp and Snapchat over several months.
The communications included messages sent as late as 1:30 AM and discussions about the student's personal relationships, constituting a serious breach of professional boundaries expected of education professionals.

According to the disciplinary panel, Evans' behaviour demonstrated "a failure to maintain appropriate professional boundaries" and showed "a lack of insight into the inappropriateness of his actions."
