Emergency services are responding to reports of a train crash involving two trains on the line between Bedford and Luton. Multiple passengers are reported injured, with all lines closed between St Pancras and Bedford as crews deal with the incident.
Response from Authorities
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “We're responding to reports of a collision involving two trains in the Bedford area. We'll share more information as soon as possible.”
The East of England Ambulance Service has sent “a number of resources” to the scene, including an air ambulance, a spokesperson said. The air ambulance has been tracked on Flightradar24 operating south of Bedford.
A Hazardous Area Response Team has also been deployed, with the ambulance service urging people to avoid the area.
Disruption to Services
Trains will not run in or out of St Pancras for the rest of the evening, Thameslink has said. Passengers are advised to use alternative routes. Disruption is expected to last until the end of the day.
A spokesperson for Thameslink said: “All lines are blocked between Luton and Bedford. This is due to a problem under investigation. More information to follow below. If you are travelling between these stations now you will need to use an alternative route.”
This is a developing story, more to follow.
