BBC Star Norman Jay Rushed to Hospital After Health Deteriorates
BBC Star Norman Jay Hospitalized After Health Worsens

British music icon and BBC DJ Norman Jay has been rushed to hospital after his health took a sudden turn for the worse. The star was diagnosed with a rare type of blood cancer several years ago but has now been forced to pull out of upcoming appearances after his health suddenly declined.

Norman Jay Cancels Shows

Jay was scheduled to perform at the Fox & Firkin in London but will no longer appear. Posting on Instagram on June 19, the star wrote: “I’m so sorry to have to share this news but I won’t be able to join you at the Fox and Firkin or Hourglass Disco this weekend. My health has taken an unexpected turn for the worst and I’ve unfortunately been re-admitted into hospital for treatment and further investigations and tests.”

He added: “I’m absolutely gutted to be pulling out of these shows for the second consecutive year. The irony of the timing isn’t lost on me. To everyone who bought tickets, made plans or was looking forward to seeing me this weekend, I’m truly sorry. Your messages of love and support mean more to me than I can put in words.”

Support from Fans and Colleagues

The star continued: “Following the advice of my incredible blood cancer team who are looking after me, I’m hopeful that I’ll be back behind the decks doing what I love as soon as possible.” He thanked fans for their patience and support, a year after canceling another appearance at the same venue.

Last year, he was said to be “responding positively to ongoing treatment” but had been admitted to hospital for further investigations. Fans rushed to support the ailing star, with one writing: “Take care and get well soon bro.” BBC star Zoe Ball said: “Sending huge love your way Norman.” Another fan added: “Get well soon, Norm.”
