Three people arrested after a high-profile social media figure was attacked on Market Street have been released on bail. The activist, known as 'Young Bob', who describes himself as a 'Christian Pro-life Remigration activist', was seen being punched and kicked before falling to the ground in footage shared online.
Attack on Market Street
Young Bob had been hosting a debate stand on the bustling city centre street on Monday afternoon (June 15) when the attack took place. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said two youths and a person in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault following the incident. In an update issued this morning (Wednesday), GMP confirmed all three suspects arrested had since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Young Bob was wearing a Restore Bob cap at the time of the incident, having sat at a table with a sign that read: 'Reform UK must be more radical. Change my mind.'
Footage Shared Widely
In footage shared widely online, a large crowd is seen standing around him before he is grabbed by a number of people. He is then seen being repeatedly punched by two men and kicked before falling to the ground, where he is repeatedly struck and his stand equipment is used to hit him.
A GMP spokesperson previously said: 'Officers were called to an incident on Market Street, Manchester yesterday (June 15) at around 3:20pm following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a man who reported he had been assaulted. He was treated at the scene for his injuries. Three people, two juveniles and one person in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault.'
