Rod Stewart, 81, suffered a health scare during his concert at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City on Friday, June 19. The rock legend appeared visibly distressed, leaning forward mid-set, prompting staff to rush an oxygen tank to the stage.
Oxygen Tank Rushed to Stage
According to TMZ, footage shows Stewart doubling over before receiving assistance. He addressed the audience, admitting he nearly fainted but managed to lighten the mood with jokes. Despite the scare, he completed the entire performance seated in a chair.
Recent Health Struggles
This incident follows a difficult period for the singer. Earlier in June, he rescheduled Las Vegas residency dates at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace after doctors ordered rest due to the flu. He later cancelled four shows and postponed two others in Nevada and California, citing health concerns.
In a social media post, Stewart apologized: "So sorry, my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and we'll see you soon – Sir Rod." His team confirmed he had an acute upper respiratory infection leading to laryngitis.
Tour Continues Despite Setbacks
Stewart also faced criticism after cancelling a California concert just before curtain-up, then traveling to Boston to watch Scotland in the World Cup. He explained that treatment improved his physical condition but his voice was not strong enough to perform.
The singer has been open about the physical toll of touring at his age. He is currently on his One Last Time Tour, celebrating a career spanning over six decades.
