Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge at about 12:40 p.m. local time on Saturday, July 18. Officers from New South Wales Police attended and found that two vehicles had collided on the Bradfield Highway.
Details of the Incident
NSW Ambulance paramedics and police performed CPR on a male driver in his 70s before he was stabilised and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition. No other injuries were reported. However, police have now confirmed that the man died in hospital. He is yet to be formally identified.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced. A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
Police Appeal for Information
A spokesperson for New South Wales Police said: "As inquiries continue police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or was in the area at the time with any relevant dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Sydney City Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
