King Charles is reportedly devastated by the ongoing feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a GB News presenter. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to return to the UK for an Invictus Games celebration marking one year until the main event in Birmingham next year. This will be the first time Harry, 41, travels back to the UK with his family, as Meghan, 44, is understood to be accompanying him alongside Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.
GB News Panelist Criticizes Harry's Return
Discussing the pair, GB News panellist Alice remarked: "Look, they're sort of coming back here to do this quasi-royal tour. Previously, they've said that they would never bring their children to this country unless the taxpayer would basically stump up for their security. They seem to be rolling back on that." She continued: "I don't see why we should, when he's insulted our country, he's called us racist, he's abandoned his constitutional job." However, she acknowledged that Harry retains considerable support among the British public.
Residual Affection for Harry
Alice went on: "I think there's still in this country a lot of residual affection for Prince Harry. We remember him as the soldier who went to Afghanistan, the cheeky younger brother. I mean, who doesn't want to see a family come back together that's had a rift?" She highlighted that Harry enjoys protection in the US, questioning why similar arrangements couldn't be made in the UK. Commentator Scarlett MccGwire agreed: "I'm absolutely with Alice about family reunions. It's absolutely clear that King Charles is heartbroken about what's happened and that Harry, you know, is the children who go, they have the tantrum, they go off, and he wants him back. And I think that's great."
William's Anger Adds Tension
MccGwire added: "And I think it's great that they're coming back. But I just think Harry often makes things difficult for himself. The other problem, of course, is William, who is much angrier." The rift between the brothers remains a significant obstacle to reconciliation, according to commentators.
