Children were among the dead after a freight train collided with a bus at a railway crossing in Triangle, Zimbabwe, according to police. At least seven adults and two children were killed, and 25 others were injured.

The accident occurred in Triangle, a sugar-producing town in southern Zimbabwe. National Railways of Zimbabwe spokesperson Andrew Kanambura stated that the bus driver failed to stop and check for oncoming trains, violating railway safety regulations.

This crash comes less than a week after a minibus carrying schoolchildren caught fire in central Zimbabwe, killing seven. Road crashes are common in Zimbabwe, with a traffic accident occurring every 15 minutes and an average of five people killed and 38 injured daily, according to the country's road safety agency.
Authorities say human error accounts for 94% of road accidents in the southern African nation.
