Car Rammed into Glasgow House and Torched in Gang Revenge

A car was driven into a property connected to the Lyons crime family and set alight in what is believed to be a gangland revenge attack. Police are investigating the incident at the house in the Barlanark area of Glasgow, which took place in the early hours of Thursday morning. The attack is being treated as deliberate.

Emergency Response

Emergency services rushed to the scene after flames spread from the vehicle to the front door of the end-of-terrace property. It is understood that the targeted house is connected to a relative of Lyons gang foot soldiers, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, reports the Daily Record.

Neighbour's Account

A neighbour explained how a petrol bomb was thrown at the vehicle. The same address was previously targeted in February, when a vehicle was rammed into the side of the building.

A source told the Record the incident was carried out in retaliation for a firebomb attack on a business linked to mob boss Mark Richardson's associate in Edinburgh earlier this week. They said: "This is clearly revenge for the attack in Edinburgh on Tuesday. The Daniel and Richardson mobs are hitting back this year and this is the second time this house has been targeted. They weren't just going to sit back forever and accept this happening."

The source added: "The guys they are after are high ranking members of the TMJ mob and have been affiliated to the Lyons family for longer."

Scene Details

Photographs taken on the night show a white Nissan Juke engulfed in flames outside the property. Further images reveal the charred, mangled vehicle used to ram the building, with debris from inside the house scattered across the front garden. The vehicle seems to have crashed through the double-window of the lounge, with the frame and glass entirely destroyed. Burn marks are visible on the brickwork above the window this morning. Officers have cordoned off the residence and blocked access to the road.

A local resident told the Record two men had left a vehicle on a neighbouring street an hour prior to the incident. They said: "A vehicle parked up in the street behind here about an hour before the car was driven into the house. Two guys got out and were mulling about the area for ages but they weren't exactly being discreet, I even heard one say to the other 'have you got the petrol.' Then all of a sudden we heard an almighty bang from the car being driven into the property. They threw a petrol bomb inside the vehicle and ran away into a lane and got back into the car they had arrived here in."

Background of Gang Conflict

Earlier this week, kingpin Ross McGill's Tamo Junto (TMJ) associates carried out a firebomb attack on an Edinburgh business connected to mob boss Mark Richardson's associate. The Garage Conversion Company on The Wisp was set alight during the early hours of Tuesday morning. The premises is owned by Derek Welsh, whose wife Mercedes McMillan is a relative of Mark Richardson's close associate David McMillan Snr.

Welsh is registered on Companies House as holding directorship in 10 companies across Edinburgh and East Lothian. McMillan Snr, 55, has previously been targeted on multiple occasions at his upmarket property on Pitcairn Grove in the capital, in incidents connected to Scotland's gang conflict.

McGill, 32, ignited a gang war in Scotland last year after holding Richardson's crew responsible for settling a £500,000 cocaine consignment with counterfeit banknotes. His associate David McMillan was attacked at his Pitcairn Grove address on April 17 last year, when two masked individuals set fire to his front door while children were asleep inside. He was struck again just weeks later when his Land Rover was set alight on his driveway on May 7. McMillan suffered serious injuries when a trio of balaclava-clad men descended on his home and set upon him with machetes on May 22.

McGill's TMJ crew also turned their attention to the Daniel crime family in Glasgow owing to their ties with Richardson. High-ranking members of the family, including Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel, 46, and Norman 'Snudge' Daniel, 73, had their home set ablaze. The Lyons gang assisted McGill by furnishing him with intelligence on targets within the Daniel family.

Last month, a skip lorry was driven into the Edinburgh home of a teenage gangster held responsible for igniting Scotland's drug war.
