An American Airlines pilot was forced to make a chilling call to air traffic controllers on Sunday after a passenger allegedly bit another traveler and began fighting with others on board. The flight, en route to Philadelphia, landed safely with emergency crews standing by.

Incident Details

The pilot reported the passenger's erratic behavior, stating, “I don’t know if he’s hallucinating or whatever, but he just bit a passenger, and he’s trying to fight everybody.” The exchange was captured in audio obtained by CBS News. The pilot requested emergency medical crews and law enforcement upon landing, adding, “what a day, huh?” The controller wished him a happy Father's Day, to which the pilot replied, “I’ll be sure to tell my daughters about this one.”

Medical Emergency Confirmed

American Airlines confirmed that the passenger was experiencing a medical issue. A medical professional on the plane assisted the individual before the aircraft landed. According to FlightAware, the flight departed Charlotte, North Carolina, earlier that morning and touched down just before 10 a.m. ET.
