Teenager Fatally Stabbed in Early Morning Attack
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Battersea early on Saturday, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Officers were called to Glycena Road at around 4am, where they found the teenager with life-threatening stab wounds. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A crime scene remains in place, with cordons set up on adjacent streets. It is not yet clear when the cordons will be removed.
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with information to contact police. He said: 'Our enquiries are progressing intensively, and our thoughts remain firmly with the victim's family at this extremely difficult time.'
DCI Howie added: 'I understand this incident will cause significant concern within the community. There is a continued and highly visible police presence in the area, and I would encourage anyone with concerns to approach officers at the scene.'
Key Appeal for Witnesses
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Lavender Hill area between 4am and 5am, specifically on Glycena Road, Acanthus Road or Pountney Road, and witnessed a group of males running. DCI Howie stated: 'Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could prove crucial. CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage may provide vital evidence.'
He also urged the public not to assume information has already been shared, emphasising that any detail could be significant. No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation continues.
