Woman's Powerful Letter to Attacker After 25 Years as House Slave
In a harrowing case that has shocked the nation, a woman who endured 25 years of horrific abuse as a house slave has shared a powerful message to her attacker, detailing the profound trauma she continues to face. The victim, now in her mid-40s, was subjected to unimaginable cruelty by Amanda Wixon, 56, in a squalid home in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
The Decades-Long Ordeal
The victim was just 16 years old when she moved into Wixon's home in 1995, remaining there until 2021. During this quarter-century, she was locked in the property and forced to live in appalling conditions, including:
- Being regularly beaten and hit with a broom handle, which knocked out her teeth.
- Having washing-up liquid squirted down her throat and bleach splashed on her face.
- Living off scraps of food and being denied proper meals.
- Forced to secretly wash at night and prohibited from leaving the house.
The family home in the Priors Park area of Tewkesbury was described as overcrowded and squalid, with mould on the walls and rubbish littering the garden. The victim, who now refers to Wixon as The Witch, endured this abuse in isolation and fear.
The Sentencing and Victim's Letter
At Gloucester Crown Court, Wixon was found guilty and sentenced to 13 years in prison. During the sentencing hearing, prosecutor Sam Jones read aloud a powerful letter written by the victim, which conveyed the lasting impact of her ordeal.
In her letter, the victim stated: "For 25 years, I lived in fear, control and abuse. I was treated as though my life, my freedom and my voice did not matter. Although my abuser has now been found guilty, the trauma and the nightmares are something I still carry with me every day."
She went on to express gratitude for the support she now receives, saying: "I am now living with a wonderful family who show me kindness, patience and support. Their love is helping me slowly rebuild the life that was taken from me and begin to feel safe again."
The victim concluded with a plea for justice: "Nothing can give me back the 25 years I lost. But I hope the court recognises the deep and lasting harm this abuse has caused and delivers a sentence that truly reflects the seriousness of these crimes."
Rebuilding a Life
Despite the severe physical and psychological scars, the victim is now on a path to recovery. She emphasized that while the abuse has left indelible marks, the kindness and support from her new family are helping her reclaim her sense of safety and self-worth.
This case highlights the extreme lengths of human cruelty and the resilience of survivors. The victim's letter serves as a stark reminder of the importance of justice and the long road to healing after such profound trauma.
