Abuser jailed for rape and pouring hot tea over woman

A man who subjected a woman to a horrific campaign of physical and sexual violence, including rape and pouring hot tea over her, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Details of the abuse

Bilal Alfroh, 34, from Gorton, committed multiple rapes against the victim and displayed aggressive behavior. In one incident, he poured hot tea over her; in another, he threw a gym weight at her. Greater Manchester Police described his actions as a sustained pattern of abuse.

Investigation and trial

After the victim bravely reported the crimes, police launched an investigation. Alfroh was charged and found guilty of several counts of rape and actual bodily harm. On Friday, June 19, he was jailed at Minshull Crown Court.

Victim's statement

In a statement read in court, the victim expressed hope for the future: 'I hope that one day I can forget all this and start living again. Thank you for taking the time to listen to what I had to say.' She also thanked those who supported her throughout the ordeal.

Police comment

Detective Constable Adam Gawecki praised the victim's bravery: 'The victim has shown immense bravery in reporting these horrific crimes so Alfroh could be brought to justice. In her statement, she detailed the impact on her ability to socialize, her sleep, and her depression.'

Sentence and restraining order

Alfroh will serve at least two-thirds of his 16-year sentence. A lifetime restraining order was also issued to protect the victim.
