Prince Harry Security Decision Still Unresolved Before UK Visit

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK next month, but his security reassessment has not been finalized, according to recent reports. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to travel from California in July for events marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games in Birmingham, alongside engagements with charities WellChild and Scotty's Little Soldiers.

Harry has been engaged in a protracted legal battle with the Home Office over his security arrangements since stepping down as a working royal in 2020. Security concerns for his family have previously been cited as a reason for not bringing them to the UK, though recent reports suggest assurances have been given. However, sources emphasize that all security matters are for the Home Office to decide, with no role for the King.

It is understood that the duke and his family have been offered accommodation on the royal estate for the visit but have yet to respond. After losing a Court of Appeal challenge last year, Harry expressed hopes of reconciliation with his family but stated he could not see bringing his wife and children to the UK. He later wrote to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood requesting a risk assessment from Ravec, the body overseeing royal protection.

GB News reports that Ravec has not yet decided on upgrading Harry’s security despite receiving a new report from the Risk Management Board. The visit follows Harry’s meeting with King Charles, who continues cancer treatment, for the first time in 19 months.
