Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Knife Attack in Swansea

A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a knife attack on a city street in Swansea. Bokan Qadiri, from the Blaenymaes area, is due to appear at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.

Incident on St Helen's Road

Police responded to reports of a man armed with a knife attempting to attack another man on St Helen's Road in Swansea city centre on Friday morning. A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

South Wales Police officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the attack. The victim was subsequently treated in hospital, though his current condition has not been disclosed.

Charges Filed

Bokan Qadiri has been charged with attempted murder, making threats to kill, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been remanded into custody and will appear before magistrates on Monday.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed: "Following a report of a man with a knife attempting to attack another man on St Helen’s Road, Sandfields, Swansea on Friday morning, a 35-year-old man has now been charged. Bokan Qadiri, of Blaenymaes, Swansea, has been charged with attempt murder, threats to kill, and possess an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Swansea Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning."

Isolated Incident

Police have stated that the parties involved are known to each other and the attack is being treated as an isolated incident. The force has reassured the public that there is no wider risk.

The spokesperson added: "Both men are known to each other, and this is being treated as an isolated incident. We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this matter. We recognise that incidents like this can be concerning for our communities. We want to reassure residents that this was not a random attack, and there was no wider risk to the public."
