A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot on London Road in Sheffield. The incident occurred on Monday night at approximately 5:15 pm, prompting a major response from emergency services who rushed the critically injured teenager to hospital.

Police Investigation and Arrests
In a significant development, a 26-year-old man was arrested in Aberdeen by Police Scotland on Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder. The arrest led to a police lockdown on Great Western Road, with officers conducting a raid on the city's CitiHouse guesthouse around 8 pm.
A 23-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both individuals remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Earlier in the week, the investigation saw two boys, aged 15 and 16, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. They have since been released on police bail. A 40-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has also been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Forensic Scenes and Community Appeal
Following the shooting, a large police cordon was established on London Road in the Highfield area. The following day, forensic officers were seen meticulously combing the streets for evidence, with the cordon remaining in place throughout Tuesday.
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight of South Yorkshire Police stated: 'This incident understandably caused a lot of concern and heartache in the local communities, and our thoughts remain with the child's family.'
She emphasised the gravity of the situation, adding, 'He is 16 years of age and should have been looking forward to his future, but now, his life has been put on pause.' Police are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately as they work at pace on their investigation.
