Huntingdon Train Stabbing Suspect Anthony Williams Faces 21 Charges, Trial Set for 2026
Train stabbing suspect Anthony Williams to stand trial in 2026

A man accused of a series of violent attacks, including a mass stabbing on a busy intercity train, will stand trial next year after facing a total of 21 charges.

Charges Stemming from Train Attack and Separate Incidents

Anthony Williams, 32, of no fixed abode, is charged with ten counts of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing spree on an LNER service travelling from Doncaster to London on the evening of 1 November. The train was brought to a halt at Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire following the incident.

Williams did not attend a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, where the case was consolidated. In addition to the train attack charges, he faces one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm for an alleged attack on a male police officer while in custody, and a further charge of possession of a bladed article on the same date.

Further Alleged Offences in London and Peterborough

The indictment against Williams includes a separate incident in London. He is charged with one count of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article concerning an attack at Pontoon Dock DLR station in the early hours of 1 November, where a victim sustained facial injuries from a knife.

The court also joined a set of seven further charges relating to alleged events in Peterborough on 31 October. These include:

  • The attempted murders of a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man.
  • The attempted wounding of a 28-year-old man.
  • Affray at a Peterborough barbershop.
  • The theft of a pack of knives from an Asda store in Stevenage.

Williams faces additional charges for the assault of a man on a King's Cross to Peterborough train on 1 November, and for possessing a bladed article in public at several locations in Peterborough on 31 October.

Court Proceedings and Custody

At the hearing, Judge Mark Bishop scheduled a further case management hearing for 28 January at Cambridge Crown Court. He set a provisional trial date for 22 June 2026.

Anthony Williams remains in custody as the legal process continues. The consolidation of charges into a single 21-count indictment means the allegations from Huntingdon, London, and Peterborough will be heard together in next year's trial.
