A four-year-old boy has tragically died days after being pulled from a hotel swimming pool in South Carolina during a family holiday. Lauchlin McMann, from Palmyra, Maine, was on vacation with his family in Myrtle Beach when the incident occurred on Tuesday, April 21.
According to police reports, security footage showed Lauchlin flailing in the pool at around 7:53 p.m., surrounded by other children playing. He sank underwater and was not pulled out by a hotel employee until approximately four minutes later. North Myrtle Beach Police officers arrived within minutes and found a bystander performing CPR on the child.
Emergency services rushed Lauchlin to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, but despite all efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead on Monday, April 27. His parents and grandparents, who had flown in to be by his side, were present at the hospital. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
