Three paramedics have been injured after an ambulance carrying a patient rolled onto its side during a crash in Glasgow. The incident occurred just before 9pm on Tuesday, June 16, at the junction of Balmore Road and Ashgill Road in the north of the city.
Details of the Incident
One patient was on board the ambulance at the time of the crash. They were subsequently taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by another ambulance. A student paramedic was among the injured and was also taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. Two other paramedics were transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Footage from the scene appears to show a smashed car and the ambulance rolled onto its side with its blue lights still flashing, as reported by GlasgowLive.
Official Statement
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "One of our ambulances, which was en route to hospital, was involved in a road traffic collision on Balmore Road, Glasgow at 8.58pm on Tuesday. The patient on board was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by another ambulance. Two staff members were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and a student paramedic was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary."
The cause of the crash is under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
