A third victim has died following a shooting rampage at a US Navy facility in Washington DC, bringing the total number of fatalities to 12. The attack, carried out by a former Navy reservist, claimed the lives of a diverse group of civilians who played vital roles in national defence.

Among the deceased was Martin Bodrog, a 54-year-old Sunday school teacher and married father of four from Annandale, Virginia. He served over two decades in the military, specialising in amphibious operations, and later worked as a contractor designing naval ships. His family remembered him for shovelling neighbours' driveways on snowy days.

Michael Arnold, a Navy veteran from Lorton, Virginia, worked on designing amphibious assault vessels. He retired as a commander and was building a light airplane in his basement. His uncle described him as a loving son, husband, and father.
