A teenage boy has tragically died after being stabbed in woodland near a popular park in Guildford, Surrey Police have confirmed.
Police Launch Murder Investigation
Emergency services were called to an area off Lido Road in Stoke Park at around 6.10pm on Monday 19 January. Officers from Surrey Police arrived alongside fire and ambulance crews.
The victim, whose age has not been officially released, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Appeal for Witnesses to Tragic Incident
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Andy Jenkins stated that the force's thoughts were with the boy's family and friends. He acknowledged the shock and concern within the local community following the violent attack.
"Our officers are working around the clock to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident, gather as much evidence as possible, and identify and bring those responsible to justice," said Det Supt Jenkins.
He issued a direct appeal for information, urging anyone who was in the vicinity to come forward. Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Lido Road, Parkway, and Stoke Park between 6pm and 6.20pm on Monday.
Investigators want to know if members of the public saw anyone acting suspiciously or running from the woods around that time. They stress that any detail, no matter how minor it may seem, could be vital to the case.
Scene Secured as Enquiries Continue
A police cordon remains in place around the wooded area, known locally as Peacock Wood and Wild Wood Adventure, and at the end of the car park on Lido Road. Forensic examinations are ongoing within the cordon.
