A man has been charged following an alleged destructive rampage that left more than 30 cars damaged in a hotel car park in Sydney, with the incident resulting in an estimated damage bill of $100,000.
Early Morning Incident in Pyrmont
The 42-year-old suspect is accused of going on the rampage on Pyrmont Street in Pyrmont, Sydney, at approximately 3.50am on Monday. According to New South Wales Police, the man was armed with a traffic cone during the incident.
Extensive Damage to Vehicles and Property
Police allege that the man first damaged the car park boom gate before proceeding to target 35 vehicles in the hotel car park. All of the vehicles were unoccupied at the time, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
The estimated total damage from the rampage is around $100,000, highlighting the severity of the alleged actions.
Arrest and Charges
Following the incident, the man was arrested after a foot chase with police. He was subsequently taken to Day Street Police Station for processing.
The suspect has been charged with 37 counts of destroy or damage property in connection with the car park rampage.
