A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of 21-year-old Finbar Sullivan, who was stabbed in Primrose Hill, north-west London, on Tuesday evening. A second man, aged 25, has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody.
Finbar Sullivan was attacked in the early evening and pronounced dead at the scene. His father, Christopher Sullivan, a musician and founder of the 1980s band Blue Rondo à la Turk, said his son had gone to the park to use a new camera given to him for his 21st birthday. Another man, believed to be in his 20s, was found nearby on Regent's Park Road with stab wounds, which were later confirmed as non-life-threatening.
Detective Inspector Andy Griffin of the Metropolitan Police said: “My thoughts remain with Finbar’s family who continue to receive support from specialist officers at this unimaginably difficult time.” Police have warned local residents of an increased police presence in Primrose Hill and surrounding areas.
Mr Sullivan described his son as an aspiring cameraman, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Michael Seresin, who worked on films including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Rambo III. “This is the worst tragedy I could ever imagine. He’s my only son … He can never be replaced,” he said.
Police have thanked members of the public who provided information and have urged anyone else with details to come forward, stating that such assistance “could have a huge impact on our investigation.”
