A male star of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing has been cleared by police following a rape investigation. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in October 2024 over an alleged incident in Hertfordshire.
Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed that the individual was released under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of rape. The alleged victim was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show, according to reports.
In a statement, the force said: 'A man was released on police bail under investigation having been arrested in London on Monday 13 October on suspicion of rape. The allegations relate to an incident which happened in Hertfordshire during 2024.'
Police added that inquiries by the public protection team would continue, but declined further comment due to the nature of the allegations. A BBC spokesperson also declined to comment, stating it would not be appropriate to discuss an ongoing investigation.
The news comes after another male star of the show was arrested in August on suspicion of rape and separate offences related to 'non-consensual intimate image abuse.' That individual, also in his 30s, has not been named.
The latest development means the first star has been cleared of wrongdoing, with no further action taken by police.
