Police Conclude Investigation into Fatal Wembley Stadium Fall
Metropolitan Police have confirmed their investigation into the death of an Oasis fan who fell at Wembley Stadium is now complete, with detectives ruling it a tragic accident with no third-party involvement.
Father-of-three Lee Claydon, 45, from Bournemouth, Dorset, died after falling from the stadium's upper tier during the final moments of Oasis's reunion concert on August 2.
Inquest Hears Details of 'Complete' Police Probe
Barnet Coroner's Court heard on Wednesday that the criminal investigation has concluded. Detective Sergeant James Raffin told the hearing: "From a police point of view, this is no longer a criminal prosecution. We do not suspect any third party involvement. This, from everything we have seen, was a tragic accident."
The landscape gardener had attended the sold-out Live '25 reunion tour show with his brother Aaron, niece and nephew. Mr Claydon was taken to a medical centre within Wembley where he was pronounced dead at 10.38pm.
Family Tributes and Ongoing Inquest
A post-mortem examination conducted on August 6 gave the preliminary cause of death as multiple bodily injuries.
Mr Claydon's father Clive previously suggested his son may have slipped on beer, stating: "There was beer all over the floor, it was really slippery, and Lee just slipped and fell. I've been told that it was an accident waiting to happen." He insisted his son was not drunk at the time.
In a heartfelt social media tribute, Mr Claydon's girlfriend Amanda described him as her "best friend, my soulmate" and expressed devastation that their future together had been "cut way too short."
The inquest, originally opened on September 10 by senior coroner Andrew Walker, continues as authorities work to complete statements from significant witnesses who came forward following a media appeal.
