A North Wales Police officer has tearfully denied allegations that she drunkenly groped two colleagues and attempted to kiss an inspector during a boozy leaving party earlier this year.
Allegations of Inappropriate Conduct
PC Pamela Pritchard, 29, is facing a misconduct hearing over her alleged behaviour at a gathering at Caernarfon Rugby Club in March 2024. The panel heard claims that the mother-of-one put her hands on a male colleague's groin twice, groped a female officer's breasts, and tried to kiss a male inspector, causing him to pull away.
One colleague, identified only as PC B, stated that Pritchard grabbed his genitals outside his clothing "out of the blue" while he waited at the bar. He described feeling "humiliated" and alleged the contact was repeated later in a smoking area, where he said she squeezed him. He also claimed she later sat on his knee and kissed him on the lips.
A female officer, PC A, alleged that Pritchard came up behind her, put her arms around her neck and under her armpits before grabbing and squeezing her breasts.
Officer's Emotional Denial
Giving evidence, PC Pritchard broke down in tears, telling the hearing she had "no recollection" of the alleged incidents after consuming alcohol. She insisted she was "absolutely mortified" by the accusations.
"My behaviour that evening was inappropriate. I've never acted like that before," she said. "The statements and the CCTV that I have seen and heard... that's not who I am. I am not that person."
She vehemently denied deliberately touching PC B's groin. Her barrister, Fiona Clancy, suggested PC B had been "teasing her and interfering in her love life" during the night out. Pritchard also contradicted an alleged comment made at the party, where she was said to have declared "I'm the biggest lesbian here and I'll fight any man," by telling the panel "I'm straight."
Hearing Sees CCTV and Continues
The disciplinary panel, chaired by North Wales Assistant Chief Constable Chris Allsop, was shown CCTV footage from the evening, which reportedly showed PC Pritchard twerking. She is charged with:
- Making inappropriate physical contact with two colleagues without consent.
- Using insulting and inappropriate language.
- Attempting to kiss another colleague unsolicited.
PC Pritchard denies breaching standards of professional behaviour and denies gross misconduct. The hearing at Colwyn Bay police headquarters continues.
