A man and a woman have admitted to the shocking kidnap of a 10-month-old baby girl in the seaside town of Blackpool.
The Kidnapping and Swift Police Response
The incident unfolded on the morning of August 16, 2022. Police were called to Carlyle Avenue in Blackpool at approximately 10:17am following reports that an infant had been abducted.
The response was immediate and decisive. Within the hour, officers had arrested two suspects and, most importantly, had safely returned the baby girl to safety.
The Defendants and Court Proceedings
The individuals charged were Michael Wellings, 50, and Lisa Green, 52. Following a consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, both were charged with kidnap.
At a hearing at Preston Crown Court on October 16, the two defendants stood in the dock and each entered a guilty plea to a single count of kidnap.
Awaiting Sentencing
The court has deferred sentencing for both Michael Wellings and Lisa Green. Their sentencing will take place at a later date, pending the conclusion of unrelated legal proceedings against them.
