Zendaya and Tom Holland Skip Met Gala Amid Bezos Row

Zendaya and Tom Holland were notably absent from this year's Met Gala, with sources suggesting the couple chose to distance themselves from the event amid controversy surrounding Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's lavish Venice wedding. The Amazon billionaire's three-day nuptials, reportedly costing $20 million, have drawn protests in the city over concerns about wealth inequality and environmental impact.

The guest list for the wedding, which began on Thursday and ends Saturday, includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, and Kim Kardashian. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were among the first to arrive, with Ivanka sporting a $1,170 outfit from designer La DoubleJ. Other high-profile attendees include Diane von Furstenberg, Corey Gamble, and pregnant supermodel Karlie Kloss.

Despite the protests, the ultra-wealthy have descended on Venice via private jets and yachts. At least 95 planes have requested to land at Venice's Marco Polo Airport, while American investor Bill Miller's $70 million yacht was seen moored off the coast. The couple has asked guests not to buy presents, instead donating to charities working to prevent Venice from sinking.
