Manhunt Underway After NFL Star Shot Outside Celebrity Hotspot
The New York City Police Department has launched a public appeal to identify the man suspected of shooting New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd in Manhattan. The violent incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving the 29-year-old athlete in a critical but stable condition in Bellevue Hospital.
Chaotic Scene Outside Sei Less Restaurant
The shooting took place at approximately 2:06 AM on Sunday, November 16, 2025, directly in front of 156 West 38 Street, outside the renowned celebrity hotspot Sei Less. According to police reports, an unidentified individual discharged a firearm, striking Boyd in the abdomen during what appears to have been a verbal dispute that tragically escalated.
Emergency Medical Services responded swiftly to the scene, transporting the Texas native to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue. Video footage obtained by the Daily Mail captured the chaotic aftermath, showing police officers surrounding Boyd to provide immediate medical assistance before he was placed on a stretcher and wheeled into an ambulance.
Suspect Description and Teammate Reactions
On Monday, authorities released two photographs of the individual believed to be responsible. The sought individual is described as a male with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-coloured sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag. The NYPD confirmed the suspect fled the location on foot, travelling eastbound on West 38 Street.
The shooting has prompted an outpouring of support from Boyd's teammates. Defensive end Jermaine Johnson took to social media, writing: 'Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety.'
Defensive tackle Harrison Phillips added his own message, stating: 'Father God, we come to you right now, asking for your healing power over KB. You are a God of miracles. Lord, place your mighty hand on him as he fights lord God.'
Despite the grave situation, one of Boyd's friends, Ernest Quander, who grew close to the cornerback during his time at the University of Texas, offered a more hopeful perspective, telling the New York Post: 'He's all good right now. He's in good condition. He's doing real good. He's a soldier, through tough times... he's fine. He's fine.'
