Nottingham Stabbing Accused Says He Recognised Victim from YouTube

A man has denied intending to kill a musician who was fatally stabbed near Nottingham's Victoria shopping centre. Keany Kristal Kissingou-Mabiala, 20, was found injured in Milton Street on 12 October.

Mazin Abdelmonim, 19, told Nottingham Crown Court that he and a friend, Davarnay Parris, 18, recognised Mr Kissingou-Mabiala from his YouTube music videos. The confrontation escalated due to rival postcode affiliations, with Mr Abdelmonim claiming he displayed a knife to scare the victim away.

Mr Abdelmonim admitted holding the blade that inflicted two fatal wounds—one to the upper right chest piercing the heart, and another to the abdomen. However, he insisted he did not intend to stab, kill, or seriously harm Mr Kissingou-Mabiala.

Both defendants have admitted possessing a bladed article in a public place but deny murder. The court heard that after the attack, the pair fled, and Mr Kissingou-Mabiala collapsed after asking bystanders to call an ambulance.
