A neighbour has described the heartbreaking 10-minute battle to save 16-year-old Chloe Watson, who was stabbed in the back in Leeds. The teenager was found unconscious on Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe at around 5.55am on Saturday, March 28.
Wayne Mallows, 64, performed CPR on the 'beautiful, bubbly' girl on the pavement near his home. He was called out by a dog walker who said another neighbour was already giving CPR but was getting tired. Mr Mallows took over until the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later.
“She had been stabbed in the back and there was quite a bit of blood. Her eyes were just blank,” he told the Mirror. Paramedics continued chest compressions for about five minutes before taking her to hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
A GoFundMe page set up by relative Shantelle Watson said the family is 'distraught' and that the stabbing was 'over a boy'. West Yorkshire Police have arrested four people on suspicion of murder: two 18-year-old women, a 20-year-old man, and a 17-year-old boy. All remain in custody.
Detective Chief Superintendent Marc Bowes appealed for anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with details should contact police on 101 quoting log number 280 of March 28, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
