Mother and Son Die in West London Park Water Incident

A mother and her young son have tragically lost their lives after encountering difficulties in the water at a west London park. The Metropolitan Police were summoned to Elthorne Park in Ealing shortly before 4:30 pm on Saturday, where the pair were recovered from the water.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is now underway, though authorities have confirmed that the deaths are not being treated as suspicious. Officers are working to identify and notify the next of kin.

Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray, from the Met’s west area command unit, expressed his condolences: “This is a tragic incident in which a woman and her young child have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their loved ones. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the first responders and members of the public who did their very best in an incredibly challenging situation. While an investigation into what took place is under way, all initial indications are that the circumstances are not suspicious.”
