Police are pursuing the extradition of a suspect in the murder of a woman in Westminster earlier this month. Detectives have not named the individual or disclosed their current location.
Angela Thiamphanit, 26, was found with stab wounds at her home in Stanhope Place on 8 April. She had dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality and worked in property management, having lived in the UK for around nine years after coming to study at university.
The Metropolitan Police has asked the Crown Prosecution Service to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed with extradition. The force has also referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding its handling of the investigation, as Ms Thiamphanit's friends had contacted officers on 7 April expressing concern for her welfare.
A post-mortem examination concluded she died from sharp force injuries. An inquest was opened and adjourned at Westminster Coroner's Court on 16 April. Her family said in a statement they were 'unspeakably hurt' by her death.
